Francesco Bagnaia will be keen to bounce back to winning ways when he competes in the 2023 Indian MotoGP after failing to win the last two races.

Most recent race

The Ducati Lenovo Team rider came close to winning the recent 2023 San Marino and Rimini Riviera MotoGP which took place on 10 September.

Bagnaia started on the third grid on the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli and went on the finish third as he collected 16 valuable points.

Standings

The 2018 Moto2 World Champion is currently placed at the top of the riders' standings having accumulated 283 points from 12 races.

Bagnaia is 36 points ahead of second-placed Jorge Martin of Ducati with eight races left in the current campaign.

Why Martin could win the 2023 Indian MotoGP

The MotoGP World Champion has failed to win the last two races, but he showed that he is returning to his old form by securing a podium spot at the San Marino GP.

Bagnaia has won Portuguese MotoGP, Spanish MotoGP, Italian MotoGP, Dutch MotoGP, and Austrian MotoGP this season and is now looking to clinch his sixth win in India.

What did he say?

“It was massively important to be on the podium for myself, Dani [Pedrosa] was pushing a lot, and when I saw that with six laps to go, he was 0.2s behind I said ‘Oh f**k’,” Bagnaia said after the 2023 San Marino GP.

“I did a couple of laps with a 1:32.7s and was struggling, but then tried to push again in the last couple laps to just stay ahead and managed to do a couple of low 1:32s. Jorge [Martin] did an amazing job all weekend.

"Maybe if I was in a better condition it could have been a different story where I could fight more, but it’s difficult to say. It was easy to give up the race and just finish, but we did a great race which makes me really happy.”
